{"id":49,"date":"2007-08-28T07:48:07","date_gmt":"2007-08-28T07:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mrmaher.wordpress.com\/2007\/08\/28\/and-so-it-begins\/"},"modified":"2023-02-22T22:27:26","modified_gmt":"2023-02-22T22:27:26","slug":"and-so-it-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infinitude.maherpages.net\/index.php\/2007\/08\/28\/and-so-it-begins\/","title":{"rendered":"And so it begins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\" size=\"2\">And so it begins.<span>  <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\" size=\"2\">First a couple of e-mails about schedule changes, then a trip to school with the kids to unpack new ancillary books.<span>  <\/span>Then it\u2019s student teacher assignments, room changes, writing new objectives and figuring out the desktop on the new computers.<span>  <\/span>Next week these small chips in the dam will explode into a deluge of questions, issues and tasks and the new school year floods into our lives.<\/font><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\" size=\"2\"> Amidst the clich\u00e9s in the Principal and Superintendent\u2019s letters and the shameless marketing of an 18 billion dollar back to school season is the one true benefit to a traditional (read \u201c19<sup>th<\/sup> century agricultural\u201d) schedule; every new school year starts clean.<span>  <\/span>Teacher\u2019s have detoxed, professionally developed and recharged their batteries, while students have (hopefully) let the world teach them something.<span>  <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\" size=\"2\">As I walk down the bright polished floors of clean hallways and stack textbooks in classrooms I\u2019m a little maudlin about the loss of the summer and new cherished memories of time with my children.<span>  <\/span>Yet, getting back into the game with a fresh start is as invigorating as that first cool snap of an Autumn breeze.<span>  <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\" size=\"2\">I\u2019m reminded of an old adage from my father, \u201ctake it easy, greasy \u2013 you have a long way to slide.\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And so it begins.
